I’ve digitized a lot of mine. But I’m way behind on organizing. I have a lot of photos filed in “chunks.” But I need to do a lot of work adding metadata, etc.
That is always a challenge. I am the same. I did some organizing before I digitized but still have the stories and other information to add. It is a full time job!
Yes. A lot of mine are yet to be properly organised. The plan is to gradually upload them to my family history archive on the weare.xyz platform. Although my Archives are public, I can mark individual photos private if it is not yet appropriate for them to be public.
I have done a great job scanning but not organizing on my computer. About 8 years ago, my family gave me a scanner that can do negatives. I scanned a huge bag of negatives belonging to my grandma going back to the 1930s. I was stunned to find several photos of me and my siblings when we were kids. I'd never seen these photos before. I've since scanned all my negatives as well as my dad's.
It is so great to find those treasures we have never seen. Slides and negatives are hard to view without the right equipment, so they are most likely be in bags and boxes. Congratulations on scanning so much!
Kathy, it really is. The one bag was something my grandma kept telling me existed and I kept telling her didn't exist. I was stunned the day my dad pulled it out of the shed and asked if I wanted it. I have to admit I was a bit obsessed with scanning. I'd had the negatives for a few years and was dying to know their secrets.
Jane, it's always good to have a location in mind of where you will store your organized collection. That way you can organize in a way that suits the location.
I have digitised quite a lot of my photos but still have some to go.

Guilty as charged, done some but far from complete!
